tea room

Natasha Rostova and Karamazov brothers would like a cup of tea of these little but lovely Tea room Sala da tè near the ancient Ghetto and the pretty Fontana delle Tartarughe of Piazza Mattei. Russian culture has been evocated by many icons: silver samovar, coloured traditional dresses, mascs, blue and gold decored porcelains, embroidered tablecloths, music of background.

Silver Samovar, traditional dresses and porcelains

Customer are foreign tourists, attracted and amused by  atmosphere and furnishing, and Roman people that meet here for a cp of exotic tea and generous slices of apple cake.
The Samovar is a decoration only, but tea preparation happens according to a rite. Host choose tea from a menu that indicates tea characteristics and aroma, or from the several tea boxes leaned on the shelves.  Water comes to a boil on a little flame hidden by a green painting screen and after it covers tea leafs in potbellied teapots. The floral or geometrical white and blue tea services are cheerful split, like the saucers where the generous slices of cakes are served. A tasting alternative are Russian blinis, flavored with fruit jam or caviar.

A ogni tavolo vengono portati servizi da tè dai diversi decori
